The World Cup Play-Offs were watchable but the Liverpool-Napoli match had amazing ending

Another crazy football match has given viewers across the world plenty to enjoy, even as the referees struggle to keep up with the unrelenting pace of play.

Luis Suarez saved Liverpool’s blushes with a goal with just ten seconds remaining to give the Reds a 1-0 win at Napoli to keep alive their hopes of winning their third consecutive league title.

And just a minute earlier, Manchester United had been held to a 0-0 draw at home by none other than the visiting Arsenal and brought just a fraction more satisfaction to those who had tuned in for the World Cup Play-Off second leg between Croatia and Russia.

The Gunners took the tie 3-2 on aggregate after a fast-paced and engrossing 90 minutes, but it was a long time before the game really got going. At one point Arsenal enjoyed 50% possession and while United dominated at times, did look in danger of missing out on winning the game with the score 0-0 in the second half.

“It’s a close game but they had the better chances,” Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere admitted. “We had to keep going, but we’re over the moon.”

United’s first best chance fell to Phil Jones, who fizzed his shot just over the bar before Anthony Martial’s effort was well saved by Bernd Leno.
